9/26/19 - Day 2
September 26th, my baby boy’s 29th birthday! How did he (and I) get that old? Derek had school all day and into the evening but he had time in the morning so we decided to go to breakfast together. They picked a place near the University called The Mad Hatter. It was a fun little place inside an old home. Zoë charmed the waitress and we all enjoyed our meal. Derek headed off to school and then the rest of us went off to play. We went to the Rochester public market first. It was kind of like a huge farmer’s market. We bought apples, potatoes, squash, Brussels sprouts, corn, green beans, etc. We went inside the adjacent building and found a lady selling boiled peanuts! I was so excited since we had them first in North Carolina and loved them! After that we headed to a farm/dairy store to get a few more things. It’s in an area called Pittsford which is just beautiful with old homes, farmland, and just really picturesque. Doug bought an ice cream sandwich there and Zoë was more than happy to share it with him! We drove back to their place and had some lunch and then everyone had a nap.
Shelby had a meeting at the YMCA that she had to go to so we watched our sweet girl. We played outside for a bit (and of course she found a puddle!) I went in to start dinner while she and Doug stayed outside playing. I cooked up a bunch of veggies that we’d bought this morning (mashed some of the potatoes for Zoë). After dinner she started missing her mommy and daddy so we found a show to watch and sat on the couch and cuddled until mommy came home from her meeting a little after 8PM. I didn’t want to risk getting her upset again trying to put her to bed so she got to stay up a little late that night.
