- Remembering
I'm fighting an awful headache and Crohn's problems today so stayed home from church. It was nice, however, to be able to watch "Music and the Spoken Word" this morning. I miss watching it when we're on this 9-12 schedule. I've been in a remembering/reminiscing sort of mood so decided to look at older journal entries along with the blog that I kept up for a few years. I think I've decided that I need to go back to blogging. Not in order to share it with the world, but just as a place to keep my thoughts and some photos together. I had a book printed from the first few years of my posts and although the definition of the pictures isn't as clear as looking at them online, they're still fun to look at, remember, and see what I wrote about them.
Last Sunday was Zoe's blessing day. She looked beautiful wearing the white eyelet dress that Shelby wore for her own blessing 27 years ago. I was able to go down to Murray a few days before and help Shelby fix the elastic in the sleeves on the dress. Other than that, it was in great shape for being that old. There was a large contingent of Mylers, Ostlers and Formans there to support Derek and Shelby on their special day. It was fun going to their ward because although the boundaries have changed and the name has changed, it was my home ward growing up. After 35 years of being away there were still familiar faces and people to catch up with.
The most remarkable thing was that the last time I sat in that chapel was for mom's funeral in April 2010. At the funeral we sang one of mom's favorite hymns, Be Still My Soul. The opening song for this meeting was the same. I was sitting next to Greg and remarked on the "coincidence." I did okay until we got to the third verse and emotions overcame me and I couldn't sing any longer. Our loved ones are closer than we think.
Be still, my soul: The hour is hastening on
When we shall be forever with the Lord,
When disappointment, grief, and fear are gone,
Sorrow forgot, love's purest joys restored.
Be still, my soul: When change and tears are past,
All safe and blessed we shall meet at last.
When we shall be forever with the Lord,
When disappointment, grief, and fear are gone,
Sorrow forgot, love's purest joys restored.
Be still, my soul: When change and tears are past,
All safe and blessed we shall meet at last.
