What to do? What to do?

There are times when this quilting hobby of mine becomes more of a stress inducer than a stress reliever. Case in point.

This quilt in progress is supposed to have log cabin blocks alternating with split star blocks. It's a beautiful pattern.

I got all 28 log cabin blocks done as posted a few days ago. They went quickly and I was happy with them.

Then....I started the split star block. It was kind of a pain but I got it done and it looks nice too.

Then came the traumatic moment. The log cabin blocks, while all basically the same size, are much smaller than the split star blocks. 

Notice the star block peeking out from behind the log cabin...

So where do I go from here? The star block is the right size, the log cabins are not. Heaven forbid that I should have measured them while sewing them.  Maybe I'll end up with a simple log cabin quilt instead of the fancier one.

Simple is good, right?

I've actually managed to keep up with the Moosequilts QAL. Of course, this is only the third block but I have hopes of staying on top of this one.

With the other two blocks from the QAL....along with a few other projects in the works.

Then there's the other design wall....

There are several others tucked away in bins and closets. Hopefully I'll get to them pretty soon. The weather is getting colder and when that happens it's nice to while away the hours in my sewing room.



Goodies from England!

Yes, only a die-hard or crazy quilter will have fabrics sent from England to Utah in order to finish a quilt. I'm so happy they're here though. Maybe I'll finally get this project finished that was started in approximately 2005.

Star quilt along #2

This is a modified friendship star. Of course I had to play with the configuration and do it differently than the original pattern...  It's not my favorite star pattern but hopefully will be okay in the quilt.

Together with #1. The first one wins the favorite contest so far. I'm having fun with the colors.

Fat quarter stars quilt along

I tried to resist, really I did. At last count I have eight quilt projects in progress and I don't even want to know how many kits and patterns (with the fabric already purchased) are lying in wait in the closet. That's why I tried really hard to resist. I didn't need to start another project but then I remembered that I had a bin full of fall colored fabrics left over from another quilt. Aha! That means I didn't have to have more guilt caused by going to buy fat quarters for the fat quarter quilt along. So I guess mine will actually be a "scrappy and use up what you have" quilt along.

I really love the first block. This is sponsored by Konda Luckau over at www.moosequilts.blogspot.com and she designed the first block. There will be a total of 12 star blocks, all designed by different people. I think it will be a lot of fun.

Autumn is (was) here

Autumn was here a few days ago and stayed for only a few days. Today it's snowing heavily in the mountains and it's cold in the valleys. But, those few days were wonderful! I love the crisp days of autumn with the mums in bloom.

I think fall colors are my favorite to decorate with too. Everywhere I look in the house there seems to be a fall quilt. Most were made for me by my good friend.

But I did make a couple of them...

A few of my favorite fall pictures from a trip to Pennsylvania last October. It was glorious!

Now, if winter will only back off for a few more weeks at least so that we can enjoy more of this...
