Happy Independence Day!

We were in Colonial Williamsburg a little over a week ago. What a great place to visit. It was nice to have a history course refresher and to remember the events that led to the Revolutionary War.

A visit to Washington DC the next day included a walking tour of many of the memorials there. It was another great reminder of our freedoms, that we often take for granted, and those who fought valiantly for those freedoms. We were reminded again that freedom is never free and a price always has to be paid.

 Visiting the World War II Memorial was especially poignant for us since Doug's dad and my Grandpa served then.

The Vietnam and Korean War memorials also touched me.

Doug met a veteran of the Korean War who had come to the monument to remember and reminisce. They enjoyed talking together of their mutual love for the people and land of Korea.

What a blessing to live in a free country. God Bless America!
